Mary’s Yes!

Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her. (Luke 1:38 NLT)

Day 4 (Conclusion) – Reflection

By Fr. Chris Lee OFR

As we reflect over the last few days, perhaps the crowning jewel of this passage of Scripture is Mary’s response to God being with her, and highly favoring her, above all other women. Her response to this world changing news is simple, she said yes, “…I am the Lord’s servant…” (Luke 1:38NLT)

Mary’s simple “yes” to God in humble obedience set in motion God’s original plan of redemption from the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4). God, in His infinite wisdom, chose to redeem the lost souls of humanity in cooperation with a humble, favored, little “yes”.

Interior Questions:

  1. Are you willing to be The Lord’s obedient servant?
  2. Will you say “yes” to Him?
