United in Gospel Witness: Gafcon and CAC Leaders Meet in Texas

Christ Church Cathedral, Plano TX

On Sunday, October 12, Gafcon General Secretary Bishop Paul Donison welcomed Bishop Primus Vijay Raju Gadepe and General Secretary Bishop Robert Gosselin of the Confessing Anglican Church to Christ Church Cathedral in Plano, Texas.

After worshiping together and sharing in the Eucharist, these global leaders met to strengthen ties and explore deeper cooperation in light of recent developments across the Anglican world.

“This is a pivotal moment. Valid bishops must speak with one voice.” Bishop Robert Gosselin

Authentic Anglican Leadership

Their conversation centered on a pressing question: How can everyday Anglicans recognize and draw strength from leaders who truly represent the global, orthodox Anglican witness?

In a time of confusion and competing voices, the Bishops agreed—authentic leadership rooted in the historic biblical faith is essential. Unity among faithful Anglican bishops and churches is not optional; it’s vital for proclaiming the Gospel with clarity and conviction.

Looking ahead to G26, the upcoming global gathering of orthodox Anglican bishops in Abuja, Nigeria (March 2026), the leaders affirmed its significance. “Bishops are called to serve the whole Church, not just their own jurisdictions,” said Bishop Robert. “This is a pivotal moment. Valid bishops must speak with one voice.”

The conversation also addressed serious concerns in India, where some individuals have falsely claimed ties to Gafcon and offered illegitimate “consecrations.” Bishop Primus Vijay Raju expressed deep concern over these abuses, noting that many faithful Anglican jurisdictions in India feel confused and marginalized. There is a growing desire among valid Anglican leaders to be recognized as orthodox and be connected to biblically grounded.

Responding clearly, Bishop Paul Donison stated, “Gafcon has not appointed any representative or Primate for India. Our website lists every recognized Primate, province, and council.”

“Fellowship begins with relationship, and relationships are built on trust.” Bishop Paul Donison

At the heart of Gafcon’s fellowship is the Jerusalem Declaration, a shared commitment to 14 biblical principles that guide its mission and unity. Signing the Declaration is a public affirmation of faith and solidarity with the global movement to guard the Gospel and grow faithful leaders.

Bishop Paul encouraged Anglican jurisdictions in India to build trust and collaborate, forming relationships that could facilitate official ties with Gafcon. “Fellowship begins with relationship,” he said. “And relationships are built on trust.” He also suggested that those who sign the Jerusalem Declaration can notify the Gafcon Secretariat so that they can be considered part of the Gafcon community.

Finally, Bishop Paul stated that he looks forward to speaking at the Confessing Anglican Church’s International Synod in India (scheduled for September 2026) and sees it as a powerful opportunity to encourage unity among India’s faithful followers of Christ.
