Abuja Affirmation and the
Confessing Anglican Church

347 Anglican bishops and 121 lay and clerical Anglican leaders from 27 provinces met from 3-6 March 2026 in Abuja, Nigeria.

We convened to prayerfully confer with the other delegates, assist in the drafting of the Abuja Affirmation and to celebrate the establishment of the Global Anglican Communion, founded on the person and work of Jesus Christ and the authority of his word, and His commission to make disciples of all nations.

Joshua 24:15 declares, “Choose this day whom you will serve.” This clarion call goes out from the scriptures to all of us in India who wish to stand with faithful Anglicans across the globe in the Global Anglican Communion. Joshua’s answer was clear – As for me and my house – we will serve the Lord.

As members of the Global Anglican Communion, the Confessing Anglican Church declares with unwavering conviction that we stand behind this promise.

We do so not timidly, but with bold faith, resolute unity, and steadfast commitment—determined to uphold its truth and advance its mission as one body under Christ.
